What’s Included in the Formatting Service
·  Full compliance with target journal guidelines: Adherence to all journal-specific requirements, including font style and size, margins, layout, line spacing, and manuscript templates. Even optional guidelines are applied to ensure submission-readiness.
·  Language style adjustments: Conversion between British English and American English as required by your target journal.
·  Manuscript structure reorganisation: If your journal requires specific section ordering (e.g. moving Methods to the end), we will rearrange the structure accordingly.
·  Accurate reference and citation formatting: All in-text citations and reference lists will be formatted to match the journal’s style guide. Citations are cross-checked for accuracy and completeness.
·  Highlighting of beyond-scope requirements: Journal-specific elements that fall outside our formatting scope (e.g. keywords, graphical abstracts, highlights) will be clearly flagged, with detailed comments for your review.
·  Creation of additional documents: We can generate supplementary files such as separate title pages, cover pages, or figure/image files as required by the journal.
·  Insertion of missing reference details: We verify and insert missing reference details from publicly available sources. Any unresolved gaps will be highlighted in the document for your attention.
·  Endnote and footnote adjustments: Conversion between endnotes and footnotes (as required by the journal) is included. Note: we do not create notes from scratch, but we will adjust existing ones to meet formatting standard

1. What does your formatting service include?

We format manuscripts according to your target journal, university or publisher guidelines. This includes layout (margins, spacing, headings), reference and citation style, figure and table formatting, title page elements, and overall document consistency.

2. Which citation styles do you work with?

We work with all major citation styles, including APA, Vancouver, Harvard, MLA, Chicago, and journal-specific in-house styles. Please indicate the required style or provide the relevant style guide, the name of your target journal or link to the journal’s author instructions.

3. Can you convert references from one style to another?

Yes. We can convert existing in-text citations and bibliographies from one referencing style to another with precision, ensuring consistency and correct formatting throughout the manuscript.

4. Do you check references for accuracy?

We check references for formatting and internal consistency (e.g. author names, dates, titles, punctuation). We also provide separate Literature Search and Review service as an optional add-ins with Standard Copy Editing and our Bronze Publication Suite (this is included in our Comprehensive Editing Plan and our Silver and Gold Publication Suites. at no additional cost). 

5. Can you format footnotes and endnotes?

Yes. We can edit and format footnotes and endnotes according to your preferred style or institutional requirements, including converting between systems (e.g. footnotes to in-text citations, or vice versa).

6. Do you work with reference managers like EndNote, Zotero or Mendeley?

Yes. We can work with documents containing references generated using EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley or similar tools. We can also clean up and manually adjust any inconsistencies caused by incorrect formatting within these systems.

7. Can you help format a manuscript for journal resubmission?

Yes. If your article was previously submitted to another journal and needs to be reformatted for a new target journal, we can adapt the entire manuscript, including references, to match the new journal’s guidelines.

8. Do you offer citation assistance for multilingual or translated references?

Yes. We can format and edit references in multiple languages, and ensure multilingual sources are cited in accordance with international standards or the specific guidelines of your target journal.

9. Do you provide a reference list check against in-text citations?

Yes. We ensure that all in-text citations have corresponding entries in the reference list and that there are no unmatched or duplicate references, which are common reasons for desk rejection or revision requests.
